God Is Busy
My dad received a chain mail from a friend of his at our Church, and liked it enough that he showed it to the rest of the family. I’ll post my comment after it about my idea. (Pardon any miss-spelled words, I’m copy and pasting for quickness.)
GOD is Busy
A United States Marine was attending some college courses between
assignments. He had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.
One of the courses had a professor who was an avowed atheist and a
member of the ACLU. One day the professor shocked the class when he came in.
He looked to the ceiling and flatly stated, ‘God, if you are real, then I
want you to knock me off this platform. I’ll give you exactly 15 minutes.’
The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes went by
and the professor proclaimed, ‘Here I am God. I’m still waiting.’
It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got out of his chair,
went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him; knocking him off the
platform. The professor was out cold. The Marine went back to his seat and
sat there, silently. The other students we re shocked an d stunned and sat
there looking on in silence.
The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the
Marine and asked, ‘What the heck is the matter with you? Why did you do that?’
TheMarine calmly replied, ‘God was too busy today protecting America’s
soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid stuff and act like an
idiot. So, He sent me.’
I thought this was so profound, and it shows how God does miracles in little things. Through people, things and alot of others. God is everywhere, and you just have to open your eyes to it.
1 Kings 19:11-13
11 The LORD said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by.”
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.
God doesn’t always have to do something grand to do what you ask of him. It could already be there. Just open up and think about it, what you may have asked for could possibly already have happened, or it will take a little more time, patience is a virtue that has changed so many things in the world.

Great passage. Gets you thinking about how many times do we let God pass by with out even noticing him. Psalm 37:7a:
How often do we rush thorugh life, at a racing pace and not even see some of the amazing things God has done?

Uh, not to bother, but are you ever planning on posting again? I just ask, because it’s been about two months since anything’s been said. “Togg.le-u.com” is currently taking up the space where I plan to put a link to this great, Schmidt forum that I found. I’d just like to know so I can replace it if your done with this site.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. I’m like did this site die and no one told me..? haha.

Ha, ha… I thought either a flying racquet must have hit it, or a tumbling bucket landed on it. But then again, maybe it was just taking a break to have some fun on the spin cycle. Whatever! =D

Wow, I thought god was all powerful and could do anything therefore he could protect America’s Marines and strike the professor off the platform. That’s a break in logic that makes this story even more stupid. This made-up story is asinine, not to mention filled with propaganda and blind patriotism.

God IS all powerful and can do anything, but the concept of this piece was not directed about “blind patriotism,” as you say. In the verse from 1 Kings, Elijiah heard God only because he wanted to hear him. God loves his creations and asks for them to reach toward him. He protects the U.S. Marines because those that pray and reach out are protected, but this professor would not acknowledge God, and would not reach out to him, so God’s creation stood up for God, and gave the professor what he simply had asked for.
Matthew 18:2-4
2He called a little child and had him stand among them. 3And he said: “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven (Biblegateway.com).
