Is He really THAT close?

God Is Closer Than You Think by John OrtbergWhile on vacation in the Smokies, I picked up a book from one of the many book outlet stores there called God is Closer Than You Think, by John Ortberg. This book hit a key note on what was going on in my life. I felt distant from God, but this book helped bring me closer and realize opportunities I could take advantage to help me grow. I HIGHLY reccommend this book!

Judging

Too often do we judge one another in the wrong way. I recently read an article that talked about how the common phrase, ‘Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged‘, has been misquoted. The article gave multiple Bible verses and talked about how God tells us to judge, but do it acording to His Word, the Word of God.

1 Colosians 1:10-14 (NIV)

10And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully 12giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. 13For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Two-Face

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

Gotham's District Attorney Harvey Dent (Tommy Lee Jones, not Billy Dee Williams) was merely doing his job when the mobster he was quentioning in court threw a container of acid in his face. Batman (Val Kilmer) was too late to save Dent from the horrific effects the mixture had on his face and, even worse, his mind. Dent emerged from it still alive, but half of him had completely changed. He was now of two minds on every decision, and the ghastly half of his body earned him the moniker of Two-Face.Two-faced, or as some call it (meaning the Bible) double-minded. Free Online Dictionary states it as pretending one set of feelings and acting under the influence of another. Gotham’s District Attorney Harvey Dent (Tommy Lee Jones, not Billy Dee Williams) was merely doing his job when the mobster he was quentioning in court threw a container of acid in his face. The Song is Believe by Suzie McNeil… I thought it interesting, as it applies to alot of categories of life.

Comments please.  I’d like to hear other people’s opinions about this;  Thumbs up or down, doesn’t matter - just want to hear it.

I decided to post this here rather than in one of my other blogs.  It seemed more fitting here and I decided to ask for a few opinions.  After finishing reading it, see my footnote and reread it to revise your opinion. (more…)

Daniel

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

Last night I read Daniel 1-6. Something I guess Veggie Tales didn’t tell us was that  ”Rack, Shack & Benny”, aka Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednago were all really good friends with Daniel. These four people were companions and were all metioned in the Bible for standing strong and not denying their faith in God.

High School Relationships

Are they worth it?

Would you rather be really good friends with someone for a LONG time, being able to talk about anything with them,

OR

Would you rather put yourself at a risk. Risk your current relationship with a person and having it lasta while, then the feelings are gone. Its over. You can no longer restore the relationship once built over the past year. (more…)
